Reflective Blog 8

This week we were given examples of where creativity has been used to reach and engage with a large number of people and make a change to behaviour. I found this week quite interesting in that I was able to see creativity in a form where it was beneficial to individuals who do not receive the same everyday privileges we receive on a daily basis.

I find that creativity is quite important, in that it allows us to think of new and innovative ideas that can benefit both others and ourselves. Having looked at businesses such as Helping Hands Hotel whose profits go 100% to charity, it made me wonder what other creative business solutions existed that could help so many individuals around the world that are in need of a helping hand, and what I could do to help make an impact on someone else’s life.

Creativity can also be seen to help the less fortunate in many other practices besides that of business. After focusing on creative businesses making a positive change this week, I pondered about creativity making a positive change in other practices. After thinking for a bit I found that disciplines such as medicine are everyday innovating and creating new ideas to help make a positive change. In medicine we have individuals dedicating their lives to find cures to diseases and illnesses. To do this, individuals are constantly experimenting and innovating new technologies so that individuals can experience and fulfill a more joyful life.

Creativity allows for individuals to experience things in which they may not have been able to previously due to certain limitations holding them back. One creative innovation that I feel is quite touching is the innovation of glasses that allow colour-blind individuals to see in colour. In recent years technology has been able to progress so far that individuals with colour blindness are able to view the world in vivid colour. Before these glasses were innovated, individuals with colour blindness would not be able to experience full impact of colour the world had to offer to them. Now with this innovation, colour-blind individuals can enjoy a more fulfilled life and are able to experience something that the majority of the population see everyday.

In conclusion creativity is very beneficial in helping out other individuals. Not only does it allow for charitable business opportunities, it can aid in developing cures for diseases and other illnesses. Creativity allows us to think of new and innovative ideas that can benefit both others and ourselves, and it is a tool that allows us to reach and engage with a large number of people.

Emily 🙂
